CONTRAINDICATIONS + LIMITATIONS

TO LOOK OUT FOR BEFORE BOOKING:

You know the state of your health better than anyone. If you have any medical issues that you feel might be a contraindication, then we suggest you get clearance from your doctor.

You are NOT agood candidate for semi-permanent make up procedures if you have/are:​

  • UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE.
  • PREGNANT or NURSING/BREASTFEEDING: Although there are no medical evidence that tattooing would have any effect on an unborn child, we don’t know for sure. So we suggest you are cautious and come back after the baby is born and you are no longer nursing.
  • EPILEPSY, DIABETES, HEMOPHILIA, or a HEART DISEASE of any kind should have a physician’s approval prior to any tattooing procedure.
  • MITRAL VALVE PROLAPSE, ARTIFICIAL HEART VALVES, OR ARTIFICIAL JOINTS: or any person that requires prophylactic antibiotics before dental or other procedures will need consult their physician for treatment prior to permanent make-up.
  • ANY OTHER HEART CONDITIONS: uncontrolled high blood pressure and poor general health would be special concern, you will need to see your physician and discuss the procedure to gain pre-approval.
  • A PACEMAKER or major heart problems.
  • ON ANTICOAGULATIONS: (blood thinners) long term use of asprin, ibuprofen and some herbs reduce clotting time resulting in increased bleeding and bruising, which will affect the implantation of pigment as well as increase the healing time.If you are on blood thinners we require a note from your Doctor allowing you to go off of them for 3 days prior to your procedure and the note must also have the Doctors approval for the procedure (Please make sure you stop taking these 3 full days prior to your appointment).
  • BLOOD DISORDERS: that affect clotting such as hemophilia, sickle cell anemia and platelet disorders could interfere with implantation of pigment, however it is possible to receive successful implantation of permanent cosmetics.
  • DEVELOP INFECTIONS EASILY.
  • HAVE AN AUTO-IMMUNE DISEASE: You should get clearance from your doctor before considering permanent make-up.
  • DON’T HEAL WELL, GENERALLY.
  • SICK, cold, flu, etc will affect the healing process, so please reschedule.
  • DIABEDIC: If you are insulin dependent, you are not a candidate for permanent make-up. Healing could be compromised and take longer than average. Otherwise, if your doctor feels your condition is under control you may request a letter stating that you are able to undergo cosmetic tattooing.
  • ORGAN TRANSPLANT.
  • KELOID OR HYPERTROPHIC SCARRING: Persons with tendencies for this type of scarring have the same risk with tattoo also. The risk is mainly in the torso area, however, we may decide to do a patch test to insure that you do not scar in this manor.
  • Any ALLERGIC REACTION to the PIGMENT. A patch test is available at Microhair Studio’s In-Studio Consultation to check for any allergic reactions from the pigment, which can appear anywhere from 24 hours to a couple of weeks. For that reason, patch testing can not be done on the day of the treatment. It is advisable that persons with possible allergies to ink or dyes consult with their physician prior to getting a tattoo.
  • ON ACCUTANE, RETIN A: Topical steroids thin the skin. Depending on the stage your skin is at, it may be too fragile to undergo procedure. You should get clearance from your doctor before considering permanent make-up.
  • ON PRESCRIPTION STRENGTH MEDICATION OR TREATMENTS: that affect the dermal layer of the skin can affect the permanent make-up.
  • HERPES SIMPLEX: People who get fever blisters and/or cold sores may experience an outbreak after procedures. It’s imperative that you discuss the procedure with your physician before the procedure and receive proper instructions how to prevent an outbreak post procedure. Most physicians will offer a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrex to take prior to and after procedure.
  • Blemishes, pimples, marsh, psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, active cold sores, thin sin, sensitive skin, irritation of the skin of any kind, dry skin, stressed skin, mole or several oily skin the BROW AREA.
  • LARGE pores or severely OILY skin because your results will appear softer/solid or powdered looking. Instead, we suggest the 6D Package (Microblading + Soft Shading).

Please ensure that your skin is in ideal condition when coming in for your procedure. We want to ensure that you have the optimal canvas for procedures and healing. Please consult a skincare specialist and take care of the above mentioned concerns prior to coming in for your appointment.

Microhair Studio will NOT be able to do the procedure until the area of concern is gone and skin is fully healed.

If you are not fit to move forward with the procedure because of any of the mentioned circumstances but show up to the appointment, you will be rescheduled to the next available appointment and forfeit your deposit for the appointment time lost. A new deposit will be required to reschedule.NO EXCEPTIONS.

WAIT TO HAVE SCALP TREATMENT IF

YOU’VE RECENTLY HAD ON SCALP AREA:

    • BOTOX or other injections less than 2-3 weeks before the treatment​
    • SCARS from surgery or injury on the tattoo area(s) must be healed for at least one year prior to service. Unhealed scars are pink, red or black/dark brown. When healed, they’re white. Length of heal time depends on age.
    • You must be off Retin-A or Retinols 7 days prior to appointment and avoid or or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
    • If you are on blood thinners we require a note from your Doctor allowing you to go off of them for 3 days prior to your ;procedure and the note must also have the Doctors approval for the procedure (Please make sure you stop taking these 3 full days prior to your appointment).
    • Please do NOT take aspirin, green tea, vitamin E, or any Herbs for 3 days prior to your procedure. If your Doctor has you on aspirin every day we will need your Doctor’s approval in written form for you to stop taking the aspirin
    • If you are under treatment for any form of cancer, you must wait until your treatment is complete. It is recommended to get permanent makeup before you start any cancer treatment.
    • Please be advised that women that are on or near their menstrual cycle have a tendency to feel a bit more discomfort during the procedure than women that are not. Anesthetics also seem to not take as well to women who are menstruating. If you wish to avoid this please let us know.
    • You must be off Accutane for at least one year prior to any permanent cosmetic procedure.
    • All skin care products containing hydroxy acids, retinol and lightening ingredients must be discontinued at least 2 weeks before your procedure.
    • You must be off Retin-A or Retinols 7 days prior to appointment and avoid or or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
    • No chemical peels 60 days prior to your procedure.
    • Microneedling, micropeeling, laser, facials or any skin treatments on the face that will irritate the skin will need to wait MINIMUM 30 – 60 days until you can undergo any treatments on the brow area. Safety is one of our top priorities, so please be patient and make sure your skin is healed before any brow treatment!
    • A patch test to check for any allergic reactions to the pigment. Allergic reactions can appear anywhere from 24 hours to a couple of weeks. For that reason, patch testing can not be done on the day of the treatment.
